John Peel Session Two
BBC Radio One - 1988
Second Peel session - this time arranged at short notice after the Fall pull out (apparently). I remember that this was very near to our University Degree shows, and originally Jonny had spoken to the BBC and said we couldn't do the session.
I subsequently spent most of one very strange Friday evening trying to get in touch with John Walters (Peel's producer, who was by this time at his mums house on the Isle of White) in an effort to assure him that of course we'd love to do the session, and that our bass player had in fact temporarily lost his marbles due to a rare fit of artistic conscientiousness!
We ended up recording five tracks for this session, which was produced by Mike Robinson (I think), who apparently was the bloke who did the sound for Live Aid*. Even more impressive that Mott The Hoople if you ask me - and a nicer fella!
Session Two:
Too Much Feel
Post Jazz Rumble Bumble
Wrong
Vagrancy
Boxed Away
Produced by: Mike Robinson
Recorded at: Maida Vale Studios, London, circa May 1988
Songs by: Dawe, Dolby, Kelly
*This is another one of those stories which I'm not actually sure is true. There's some theory going 'round that over time you start to make up your own history to the point where you don't actually know what is fact and fiction anymore. This could be one of those moments. It was, after all, a very long time ago.
